Certification Services

Marinvent's unique set of expertise can help you with any or all parts of the certification process, from conceptualizing, to actual certification/flight test and acceptance by certification authorities.

Marinvent has worked on successful certification projects with Canada's Transport Canada Certification Authority, the United States Federal Aviation Authority, and Europe's Joint Aviation Authority. With multiple Canadian Design Approval Representatives (DARs) on staff, Marinvent can help you through the process of certifying your products.

In addition to our unique staff, Marinvent also posesses two unique flying test beds, a Piaggio Avanti and Piper Cheyenne. Both aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, cameras, data aquisition systems, and systems flight test capabilities to help companies get their products installed, tested. Engineering Simulator

Marinvent staff have participated in numerous systems engineering projects, ranging from an aeronautical hand-held calculator to crew station evaluations for the International Space Station Program. The company specializes in rapid prototyping for human factors optimization.

We can help you define concepts for certified or initial product development, and help you develop the following for your project:

  • Concept of use (COU)
  • Task analysis
  • Human factors
  • Simulation (design, test)
  • Rapid prototyping

By utilizing Marinvent's engineering simulator, we can help cut down on costs for creating new display or hardware concepts for the cockpit. Marinvent simulator simulates the data, but not the data busses and power. The simulator provides 28V aircraft power, and virtually any type of data bus you might need. Access to state of the art CPUs provides all the power necessary to create new display prototypes or display concepts and fly them around for proof of concept.

Need to do a flying demonstration of your concept? Do you want to show your concept to the press or VIPs? Marinvent's unique flight test platforms are commercial, not experiemental, so we can fly VIPs without experimental flight restrictions. Display your proof of concept displays in our glass cockpit for on the co-pilot side of our aircraft so that VIPs can see it in action.

Agate cockpit

We have an experienced team with military, space, and civil aviation background ready to help you develop your project or system requirements. Marinvent has developed requirements for projects like the NASA AGATE next generation cockpit, aviation charting, avionics software, and cockpits.

We can create requirements for:

  • Systems
  • Safety (and assessments)
  • Software
  • Hardware
  • Human-machine interfaces (human factors)
FG-3600

Marinvent has designed software and interfaces for applications such as Jeppesen's JeppView™ and JeppView FliteDeck. In fact, the original vertical tabbed design of the first version of JeppView has been widely adopted by software and hardware manufacturers of EFBs.

Marinvent has experts who can help you develop system, software, hardware, and interface design for cockpits, machines, GUIs, APIs, and more.

What design can we help you with?

Certified Charts

Marinvent's software engineering experts can implement certified code for embedded systems and applications compliant with RTCA DO-178B for avionics, GUIs, APIs, EFBs, or desktop systems.

Marinvent invented the world-wide standard for electronic charting now owned by Jeppesen. In 1999 Marinvent certified this cross-platform vector graphics software, which became a part of Universal Avionics Systems Corporation's UNS-1B product. Jeppesen/Boeing subsequently purchased the software in 2002. You can see this DO-178B Level C certified software running on just about every major avionics manufacturer's avionics displaying terminal charts from UASC, Honeywell, Rockwell Collins, Avidyne, and Garmin.

Flight test video overlays

With our team of DARs on staff and verification experts, Marinvent can help you test from low level software to avionics and systems flight testing.

Marinvent can save you time and money by using our engineering simulator to perform integration testing or pre-flight testing with real aircraft power and data. The simulator provides the identical data as our flight test aircraft. This means you can test your avionics or systems on the ground with real data, all without the cost of flying an aircraft.

Workstation

Once your system is ready for flight testing, it can be easily installed in our flight test platforms. Our aircraft have multiple cameras that record what's happening in the cockpit, how pilots are using your system, will full audio and data overlays. Aircraft data, cockpit audio and video can all be monitored from our custom workstation. All aircraft data from a flight test including the video is digitally recorded for easy post processing.
