Profile and History
Marinvent is a privately held Ontario corporation which was
founded in 1983 for the purpose of conducting aerospace research
and development. Marinvent accumulated approximately twelve
patents prior to the launch of its first commercial product,
JeppView in 1996. The company employs fifteen personnel: five
at its administrative headquarters in St. Bruno (Quebec);
and the main programming staff at facilities in Moscow (Russia).
The entire focus at Marinvent is on research and development.
The company develops advanced technologies to a high state
of maturity which it then licenses to the leaders in the appropriate
field. This approach has historically placed the marketing
and distribution responsibility onto large established companies,
allowing Marinvent to concentrate its efforts solely on innovative
engineering. Marinvent has also benefitted from strategic
alliances with its licensees.
Key Products and Services
Marinvent has three key areas of specialization: Human Factors
consulting, Systems Engineering, and Flight Test Services.
Consulting
The company has conducted important aviation human factors
work for the NASA AGATE program, and will continue to be heavily
involved in these activities through ongoing contracts with
NASA and Jeppesen
Sanderson.
Systems Engineering
Marinvent developed Jeppesen Sanderson’s landmark
JeppView™ application and the underlying MC3 platform-independent
RTCA DO-178B Level C certified vector graphics technology,
which were licensed and subsequently sold to Jeppesen Sanderson,
Inc., the world leader in aeronautical information. Jeppesen
and Marinvent have a strategic alliance agreement which includes
guaranteed consulting and has produced in products like JeppView
FliteDeck, and continuing work with NASA
Langley on their Aviation Safety Program (AVSP).
Marinvent Corporation also developed the Airflow Performance
Monitor for aircraft stall warning under conditions of airfoil
contamination. This product received numerous patents and
is sufficiently mature for certification.
Flight Test Services
In 1998, Marinvent Corporation procured and extensively
modified a Piper Cheyenne turboprop aircraft (C-GTMM) for
the conduct of systems flight test and human factors evaluations.
Outside the test departments of the largest OEMs, this aircraft
is the only commercially available platform in Canada for
this type of research. The aircraft has been the subject of
technical presentations at the invitation of several government
agencies, including the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute.
